ODMH Housing Assistance Program

The goal of the Ohio Department of Mental Health Housing Assistance Program (HAP) is to assist persons with mental illness obtain acceptable choices of permanent community housing as part of the recovery process. The mental health consumer's choice is expanded through this program to allow for decent, safe, and affordable housing.

HAP subsidies are designed to be a bridge subsidy until a more permanent source of subsidy or income can be obtained. It is modeled after the original HUD Section 8 certificate program. ODMH funds the program with matching funds being contributed by the local ADAMHS Board.

This program does not allow for emergency housing placement. Eligibility requirements are set by the funding source.
